Mountain View Dragway
Later Mile High Drag Ways.
The drag strip was located in Erie, Colorado. It was about 10 miles north of Denver just west of I-25.
There was a clear view of the front range of the Rockies from the strip.
It was sanctioned by both AHRA and NHRA for a while.
The strip was perpendicular to a state road and there was hardly
enough room to turn a digger around because the fence was so close to the starting line.
As I recall, it was the first strip in the Denver area that offered
a few covered pits with powered outlets.
I'd tell you who owned it but I can't spell his name. Al Bronduccia, I think.

Track Identification Quiz
To identify a drag strip from old photos, having viewed thousands, it can get tricky in a few photograph sometimes. Compounding the problem is that Oswego in particular evolved over the years, the tower jumped from one side of the strip to the other, as did the spectator area and the pit area. Also photos of racers, vehicles and spectators on the return lane are obviously reversed 180 degrees on the compass.
Whenever someone tell me they only have a few photos or just 100 feet of home movies, the important thing to remember is that by it's very nature no one else has the same images from the same angle or you would have been standing on top of each other. The other thing to remember is that someone else would probably like to see it, or could tell you more about it, or would like to revisit that day.

Oswego: Also distinctive is the small rise going up to the starting line.
Oswego: Looking West North West you also see the rise to the starting line.
Oswego: Looking South South West you can see the upper half of Wally Smith's home & outbuildings.
The Smith property is actually across the street, Highway 34, from the strip.
Oswego: There were few if any trees near the track.
Oswego: Also you might notice Norb Locke standing there with a trophy and plaque or two.

US 30: Looking East across the starting line here you can see some buildings too but you can see the ground around them.
US 30: The ground around the starting line is very flat around the entire starting line area.

DaGrove
(Formerly Union Grove)
DaGrove: The bleachers are located West or left side of the track.
DaGrove: Running along the right side of the track were scattered trees. The trees may or may not still be there but you would barely see them since a wall of billboards have been there for years.

Meadowdale Dragstrip
Meadowdale was originally a road race track featuring a Monza Wall.
"The Monza Wall was so steep that cars had to maintain a speed of at least 70 MPH (or 80 or 90 or 100, depending on the source) just to keep from falling off of it." Numerous Meadowdale PR sources and "experts."
Ironically 70 - 80 MPH were the maximum kind of speeds they were expecting when they first started racing on dirt in 1955 at the Oswego Drag Strip.
